Difference between element and compound

Molecules are two or more atoms chemically joined together. Compounds are two or more different elements joined together chemically. They can either be heteronuclear or homonuclear. They are made up of different elements , molecule is also defined as the smallest particle which can exist independently.

Examples: O²,N² ,He etc. the examples of elements and NaCl , KCl etc. are the examples of compound
